Urinary Tract Infection

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract, and work its way to the bladder, and then spreading quickly to the kidneys. Symptoms vary, based on which area of the urinary tract is infected, but most common symptoms of a UTI include:

  • A frequent urge to urinate, which only produces a minimal amount of urine
  • Painful burning or stinging sensation while urinating
  • Cloudy or foul-smelling urine
  • The passing of small blood clots
  • Tenderness in the lower abdomen
  • Fever or chills

Women are more likely to experience a UTI, however, men and even children can experience one as well. Most UTIs can be treated easily and effectively, however, in some instances they can become serious. Therefore, it is important to head to Clear Choice Emergency Room upon the onset of symptoms for an appropriate diagnosis and treatment before the infection turns into a more serious kidney infection.
