IceRays defenseman Braden Rourke was honored during this week’s Stars of the Week awards from the NAHL. Rourke is coming off of his highest scoring weekend of the season in Wichita Falls.
On Friday, Rourke scored one of the IceRays two power play goals, which gave the IceRays the lead at the time of the goal 2-0.
Rourke added onto his goal total from Friday night on Saturday. Rourke opened the scoring for Corpus Christi in the first period with a shot on from the point. The good times kept rolling for the defenseman from Iowa as he scored his second goal of the game on the power play in the second. The puck came off of the end wall from a Stepan Kuznetsov shot right to his stick to give Rourke the hat trick on Saturday night. The achievement is the first of the season for an IceRays player. Rourke led the team in shots on goal on Saturday night with seven as well.
He exited the weekend with four goals on the weekend. Four goals is the highest total for any IceRay during a series this season.
Stepan Kuznetsov was awarded an honorable mention as well as he scored the game tying goal to force overtime on Friday and the game winning goal in overtime on Saturday night.
