Corpus Christi came into their series with Odessa on a four game win-streak. The IceRays were wishing that mother nature didn’t take the first part of their name so seriously on the way to Odessa as the journey northwest took longer than expected due to inclement weather and roads. The IceRays arrived in time to maintain the same puck drop time of 7:15.
Quickly into the game, Odessa found the scoreboard. It was the first of three for Hoyord on the evening to give the Jackalopes a 1-0 lead. Corpus Christi answered back quickly with the eighth goal of the season for Cam Crolley.
The Crolley evening tally would be the final time the Rays found the scoreboard on Friday evening, as the Jackalopes added three more in the first period to take a 4-1 lead into the locker room. In the second, Odessa extended their lead to 5-1 and finished off the game with a 7-1 win.
This equals the highest total of goals given up by the IceRays this season with seven tying a game in mid-October against El Paso. The IceRays have to bounce back quickly, though, as they face off against Odessa once again on Saturday night.
Puck drop on Saturday is scheduled for 7:15 pm. Coverage for the game can be found on HockeyTV and Brewster Street Radio.
