North Richland Hills, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays game ended with a score of 5-1 in a loss against the Lone Star Brahmas at the Nytex Sports Centre on Friday night.
First Period Action
The Brahmas scored the first goal of the game at the 2:32 mark of the first period as Johan Rosenquist scored the goal assisted by Jacob Karpa and Jesse Kirkby. The IceRays answered back with a tally of their own with a five on three power play as Peteris Purmalis scored with assists going to Hans Martin Ulvebne and Dylan Contreras.
That would be all the scoring in the first period. The teams went into the locker room at the end of the period tied 1-1.
Penalties in the first period went the Brahmas Antti Autere for roughing and Mason Mara for high sticking.
Stefan Carney faced nine shots on goal in the frame and saved eight while William Gramme faced eight shots on goal and saved seven shots.
Second Period Action
The second period was all Brahmas. They scored four unanswered goals. The first goal was even strength at the 5:03 mark of the second period and was scored by Matthew Macdonald with the assists going to Ivan Zadvernyuk and Ryan Comishock.
The second goal came at 7:10 mark of the frame and was scored once again by Matthew Macdonald with the assist going to Ivan Zadvernyuk.
The third goal was scored at the 9:41 mark by Jakub Teply with the assists going to Kaden Hjlm and Charlie Masek.
The fourth and final goal of the period was scored at the 12:34 mark of the period by Mason Mara with the assists going to Ryan Prewitt and Bauer Swift.
The first penalty of the period went to Conor Bergeron of the Brahmas for cross checking. The second penalty of the period went to IceRays’ Wolfgang Govedaris for roughing. The third penalty went to Brahmas’ Jakob Karpa for tripping. No power play goals were scored off these penalties.
Stefan Carney got pulled at about the 12:00 mark of the frame and got replaced by Thomas Kiesewetter. Stefan Carney exits the game making 12 saves on 17 shots that he faced. Gramme faced 10 shots in the frame and stopped all of them.
Third Period Action
Neither team scored in the third period but there definitely infractions by both sides.
First, Conor Brust got a two minute minor for roughing at the 11:11 mark of the frame. He then got a 10 minute misconduct for continuing altercation. Nate Mann of Lone Star got a two minute minor for roughing at the 11:11 mark and then a 10 minute misconduct for continuing altercation.
Stefan Kuznestov of the IceRays got a roughing minor at the 14:19 mark of the frame as well as a 10 minute misconduct for unsportsmanlike conduct. Mason Mara of the Brahmas got a two minute cross checking minor at the 14:19 mark of the frame as well as a 10 minute misconduct.
Contreras of the IceRays received a two minute minor for slashing at the 16:05 mark. Collin Kleiser of the Brahmas received a cross checking minor at the 18:41 mark. At the 19:04 mark Peteris Purmalis of the IceRays received a high sticking minor
The Corpus Christi IceRays only managed two shots on goal, while the Brahmas shot seven times on goalie Thomas Kiesewetter in the third period.

The IceRays next game is tomorrow, Saturday, October 15, 2022. Puck drops at 7:20 PM CDT against the Lone Star Brahmas.
