North Richland Hills, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays game ended with a score of 1-10 in a tightly contested affair against the Lone Star Brahmas at the Nytex Sports Centre on Saturday night.
First Period Action
The only tally of the first period goes to the Lone Star Brahmas. Ivan Zadvernik picks up a loose puck in the slot and hammers it past goaltender Kiesewetter.
That would be all the scoring in the first period. The teams went into the locker room at the end of the period with the Brahmas leading 1-0.
There were 42 penalty minutes in the frame combined by both teams. Penalties in the first period went to IceRays’ Cafarelli at the 05:43 mark of the frame; he committed a slashing infraction. Then, Matthew Macdonald, after being a star of the game last night for LoneStar, got into some penalty trouble. He got back-to-back penalties, one at 05:52 for roughing and the other one at 08:28 for hooking.
Dom Foglia of the IceRays got a hooking minor at the 09:26 mark of the frame. Ryan Prewitt of Lone Star got an interference minor at the 11:15 mark. Cullin Wilson of the IceRays got a holding infraction at the 15:18 mark. Then, after the IceRays landed a big open ice hit, there were some fisticuffs. Anthony Cafarelli and Nate Mann both got five minutes for fighting and a 10 minute misconduct for dropping the gloves at the 16:14 mark of the frame.
IceRays goaltender Thomas Kiesewetter faced 13 shots on goal in the frame and saved 12 shots while Brahmas goaltender Arthur Smith faced five shots and saved all five shots that he faced in the period.
Second Period Action
The second period consisted of no scoring and back and forth action with plenty of penalties to speak of. The first penalty of the period went to Matthew Macdonald once again at the 01:56 mark for tripping. The second penalty of the period went to IceRays’ Owen Thomas for cross checking at the 09:56 mark. The third penalty went to IceRays’ Stepan Kuznetsov for cross checking at the 13:45 mark. The fourth infraction of the period was committed by the IceRays. Wolfgang Govedaris went off for a holding minor at 18:19 of the period No power play goals were scored off these penalties.
Kieswetter faced 11 shots in the period and saved all 11 shots that he faced while Smith faced seven shots and stopped all seven that he faced in the frame.
Third Period Action
Neither team scored in the third period. It was back and forth but the IceRays were not able to get the equalizer. The only penalty of the period goes to the IceRays’ Leonhard Korus as he received a minor for boarding at the 18:26 mark of the period.
The IceRays only managed to muster up one shot on goal in the period while the Brahmas shot nine times on goalie Thomas Kiesewetter in the third period.

Goaltender Thomas Kiesewetter faced a total of 33 shots and saved 32 shots on goal while the Brahmas goaltender Arthur Smith saved all 13 shots that he faced in the contest.
