Albin Persson has been on a hot streak as of late. Persson has recorded four points over the last four games. After not playing against New Mexico in mid-October, Persson has had two multi-point games.
The NAHL is starting to take notice of Persson’s efforts as he was named an honorable mention for this week’s NAHL South Division Star of the Week.
This past week, the IceRays hosted the Shreveport Mudbugs. In the win on Friday, Persson had two points as he assisted on Nathan Butler’s goal, which was the first in the game for the IceRays. The Rays would battle all the way back from down 2-0 to a 3-3 tie late in the third period.
With just over two minutes to go in period number three, Persson received a pass from Dylan Contreras in traffic. Albin maneuvered his way through the defense of Shreveport and buried the game winning goal with the back hand.
Persson’s efforts as of late have brought him into a tie for fourth place on the team in points at seven.
