After dropping Thursday night’s game to Odessa, the IceRays were in search of revenge on Friday night.
In the first period, it was a quick goal scored by Odessa to get an early lead, which the 1-0 lead took them throughout the first twenty minutes. In the second, Odessa extended the lead to 2-0 just over half way through the period.
The Rays went onto the power play a couple of minutes after the second Odessa goal. That’s when the IceRays found the scoreboard for the first time on Friday. It was Blake Lewis scoring his sixth goal of the season with the assists going to Jude Kurtas and Casper Gillberg.
Corpus Christi once again found themselves at intermission trailing by one. In the third, the IceRays had plenty of chances but came up short. Odessa scored an empty net goal and won 3-1.
The IceRays play at American Bank Center in need of a win on Saturday night as Corpus has dropped below Shreveport in the standings. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm. Get your tickets at the American Bank Center box office or online on Ticketmaster.
