Following Friday night’s 5-1 loss, the IceRays returned to Shreveport on Saturday in hopes of revenge against the Mudbugs. The Mudbugs sat two points behind the Rays entering Saturday night’s action.
In period number one, the two sides were just about as even as possible with six shots aside and no one finding the scoreboard. The two teams continued that throughout the majority of period number two as well until the Mudbugs found their spark.
Shreveport tallied three goals in under three minutes between the twelve and fifteen minute marks of period number two. The Mudbugs took a 3-0 lead into intermission number two. They added another in period number three to put the cherry on top of a rough weekend at George’s Pond for Corpus Christi.
The IceRays and Mudbugs now sit tied for sixth place in the South Division with the Mudbugs having the tie breaker as they hold three games in hand over Corpus.
The IceRays look to bounce back next weekend as they travel to El Paso to face off against the Rhinos. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 pm both nights in El Paso with IceRays Pregame Powered by HEB starting at 6:45 on Brewster Street Radio and HockeyTV.
