The IceRays hit the road on Friday for the first of a two game set against the Amarillo Wranglers. The IceRays came into the weekend in sixth place in the South Division with the opposition Amarillo in second.
In the first period, the IceRays were outshot 22-8 with two goals finding their way past Damon Beaver. The IceRays were held scoreless in period number one, and went into the first intermission down 2-0.
Period number two started with much of the same with a goal from Amarillo to lead 3-0. Stefan Carney was inserted for Corpus Christi, and was perfect throughout the rest of the period. Carney did not face as many shots, though, as the IceRays from that point had heavily outshot the Wranglers.
With no scoring in period number three, Amarillo came away with a 3-0 win. It is the first time this season that Corpus Christi has been a part of a shutout on either side of the scoreboard. Amarillo with the win moves into sole possession of first place.
The IceRays will have a chance to get revenge against the first place Wranglers tomorrow evening. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm in Amarillo once again. You can catch tomorrow’s action live on Brewster Street Radio and HockeyTV.
