The Corpus Christi IceRays announced their 2010-2011 regular season schedule for the team’s first year of play in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) on Tuesday morning. The IceRays 58-game schedule will begin on Wednesday, September 15vs. the Traverse City North Stars. The IceRays first home game will be played at the American Bank Center on Friday, October 1when they host the Wichita Falls Wildcats. All game times will be announced in the near future. On Tuesday the IceRays also unveiled their new website as part of the team’s move to the NAHL. The IceRays will kick off their inaugural season in the NAHL on September 15 as part of the Eighth Annual NAHL Showcase, held in Blaine, Minnesota. All 26 NAHL teams will play four regular season games as part of the event. The IceRays will face off against Traverse City, Chicago, Owatonna, and Dawson Creek. While the Showcase provides the IceRays a chance to square off against competition from around the NAHL, the remainder of the schedule will be spent solidifying new rivalries for Corpus Christi. The IceRays will square off against division rivals Amarillo, New Mexico, Wichita Falls, and Texas (Frisco) a dozen times each, with six home games and six road games. They also will evenly split a six-game season series with Topeka, rounding out the clubs that form the NAHL’s South Division. The IceRays regular season concludes on Sunday, March 27 at the American Bank Center when the IceRays host the New Mexico Mustangs.
The IceRays will play 27 home games, 27 road games, and four neutral site games. Their season long home and road trips come early in the campaign. Starting with their first ever home game in the NAHL on October 1, the IceRays open up a year-long, five-game home stand.
