For the first time this season, Stepan Kuznetsov has been named the NAHL South Division’s second star of the week. Kuznetsov receives these honors for recording four points in El Paso this past weekend.
Kuznetsov started the season with El Paso and has put up numbers against his former team since joining the IceRays. In six games against the Rhinos, Kuznetsov has recorded seven points including five goals and two assists.
Since joining the IceRays, the forward has a 0.82 points per game tally, which leads Corpus Christi this season.
This is the fifth time that an IceRay has received the first or second star of the week. Each of those five occurrences has had a different IceRay achieving the honor with Nathan Butler receiving the lone first star and Beaver, Carney, Rourke, and now Kuznetsov receiving the second star honors.
In the weekly stars of the week awards, Stefan Carney was also named an honorable mention. Carney recorded a .939 save percentage over the two games combined in El Paso collecting two wins.
