The IceRays travel to Odessa to face off against the Jackalopes this weekend. The two games there are the first of five straight against Odessa with the final three games being played at American Bank Center next weekend.
Corpus Christi is 2-1-0 against Odessa this season with a perfect 2-0-0 record at Ector County Coliseum. The IceRays have a four-game win streak coming into the weekend with two straight sweeps of El Paso and Amarillo.
The two teams last faced off in mid-December, the weekend before the holiday break. Corpus Christi won in overtime on night one with Kevin O’Keefe getting the game winning goal, and the IceRays completed the sweep on Saturday winning 6-2. Following that weekend, IceRays forward Nathan Butler was named NAHL South Division Star of the Week for scoring three goals in the series.
The IceRays power play comes into the weekend in Odessa on a bit of a hot streak as they are averaging over a goal per game over the past four games. The real test will be against the Jackalopes penalty kill as they were perfect last weekend against Wichita Falls.
Odessa comes into the weekend following four straight games against the Wichita Falls Warriors. In the two series against the Warriors, the Jackalopes split both series. In their past seven games, they have went 2-5-0 giving up thirty goals in that span.
