IceRays 4, Lone Star 3
Following a tough loss on Thursday night, the IceRays hit the ice on Friday in attempt to avenge the performance from the day prior.
In the first, the IceRays found themselves on the power play with just under seven minutes to go in the period. With under thirty seconds to go on the power play, the Rays had a clean entry into the zone, which led to Juraj Elias slamming one into the back of the net. The Brahmas evened things at one just 1:13 after the game’s opening goal.
Just over two minutes after Lone Star’s response, the IceRays took the lead right back. The goal came off of the stick of Dom Foglia, who recorded an assist on Elias’s goal earlier in the period. The one goal advantage stayed throughout the remainder of the period and into intermission.
In the second, only one puck was able to find the back of the net. It was the stick of Jude Kurtas sending it into the back of the net giving the IceRays a 3-1 lead.
Lone Star opened the scoring in period number three cutting Corpus Christi’s lead to only one. The IceRays answered back to regain the two-goal lead thanks to the stick of Dylan Contreras. Lone Star cut the lead back to one with an extra attacker on the ice, but they were unable to find that second goal as the IceRays won 4-3.
The Rays open 2022 at home on Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th in the final regular season matchups of the season against the New Mexico Ice Wolves. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 both nights at American Bank Center.
